I play water polo, and the discipline of the sport guides my work in science and leadership. I invent for Earth and Space, and technology should serve people. I founded VitaSensor, an initiative to make continuous glucose monitoring affordable for most people through noninvasive, low-cost sensing. I also lead the Kopp Foundation for Diabetes, a nonprofit by youth, for youth, with T1D. KFD has 11 chapters, 120 volunteers, and more than 10,000 students reached, with university chapters at UCLA, UC San Diego, the University of Pittsburgh, UMass Amherst, and more. My technical work extends to nanotechnology for sensing and reliability in extreme environments. Astronaut safety is part of that mission; ultimately I care about human safety in every environment. I measure success by access, accuracy, and trust when it matters most.
